Cameo appearances and references |
Above is a screen shot of the "Megaton Punch" mini-game. In the crowd, we can see Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Birdo. A similar background graces the final fight with King Dedede in the Spring Hill mode, where you can sometimes scroll the screen far enough to see Princess Toadstool next to Mario.
In The Great Cave Offensive mode, some of the treasures you have to find are from the Mario universe. For example, there is a Turtle Shell (from Super Mario Kart), Kong Barrel, and Bucket (from Mario & Wario).
As the credits roll at the end of the Milky Way Wishes mode, various Kirby icons are placed next to the job titles. Mario appears at the very end, decorating the Executive Producer's title.
And finally, the most interesting cameo of them all. When Kirby uses the Stone power, sometimes he will turn into a gold Mario statue. It is a very rare occurrence, however.
